Make up a low price because when the person goes to register it and they see it was a gift and they didn&#039;t pay anything for it, the DMV will come up with a fair market value for it and make the recipient pay sales tax on that amount.</description>

If not the dmv will put their value on it and that is what they will pay taxes on. All states vary, so just call to be sure.
