How do I junk my car, and how will I get for it?
A reader asks…
I want to junk my 99 kia, it is complete working control but I dont want to dupe anyone into buying a car that eventually will be dead. However I would at least try and get some money out of it, how much do junk yards typically pay for these kind of deals?
And what do I need to sell it to them, I assume just the title?

Great journey and experience!
@buy provillus, if you are donating to a charity, you can always check if they are a real 501(c) charity here http://www.irs.gov/app/pub-78/
And if you’re just straight up junking your car to get rid of it for free or selling a junk car, then it doesn’t matter.
You know i know charity is a good thing, but i guess there is still a little selfishness and dis-trust in me, i always wonder if im being scammed or not

Go here http://donatejunkcarsfast.com/buy-my-wreck/ and fill out the form. They will contact you with different offers. I decide if you want to accept any of them. If so, they will come and take it away for free. You don’t even have to be home.
i had a ford contour and i hated it. i also didn’t want to sell it to anyone because everything was wrong with it..however, it did start. i called every junk yard in town, most said that there were to many contours in the yard so i wouldn’t get much.
i called this one place and they said they would give me $700, as long as the car started….all i needed was the car title in my name and an i.d.
when we junked our ’85 vw rabbit, we got about $40, so i assume you will get more, for the fact that all is working. I HIGHLY recommend that you take as many parts from it before you leave it. Take all parts tire’s, and whatever suvineers you want. The more you have for future use, the better. and yes all you need is the title
Typically, under $300.00 If it runs at all, advertise it as is, where is, and someone will buy it and take the chance it runs forever. Junking it won’t get you much money.
